The National Prescription Drugs Take Back Day is on April 27, 2019 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with thousands of collection points around the country. We have several collection points around as, and you can see below for the full list.
Unused prescription drugs that are left around family, friends and other visitors often get stolen and are highly sought after by people who may have an addition problem - of which we may be unaware. At the same time, disposing of unused prescription drugs in a toilet, for instance, leads to the poisoning of our water supply. Simply putting unused prescription drugs in the trash is also a problem as well.
You can take action now by going to one of the sites listed at the bottom of this article and getting rid of these drugs that could be dangerous to family or friends. Drug overdoses are becoming more common everyday, and high school and college student deaths are rising.
Last year, the DEA, who administers National Take Back Day, collected more than 900,000 pounds of drugs, and almost 11 million pounds have been collected since 2010. What is not known is how many lives were saved by the 11 million pounds.
